I feel truly blessed with a gift, a talent to interpret what I see through watercolor paintings. My artistic journey has already surpassed my wildest dreams, and my journey continues as I paint daily. The creation of my daily blog has provided me with an opportunity to experiment with new subjects and to grow creatively. The added bonus has has been a huge boost to my skill level above my expectations. I am not ready to call myself a master of watercolor because I realize the constant potential of growth. I believe it is all in the journey...
Born January 1, 1953
Family life plays an important role in Andy's life. Andy and his wife, Linda, have been married since 1979 and have a married daughter living in NYC. He is an avid bicycle rider and can often be seen repairing the neighborhood bikes.
GOALS and ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Andy has been painting professionally since 1980.
Over the years there have been many awards and special recognition. While that has been important and helped build an impressive resumé, he has placed more emphasis on his personal connection with his clients.
THE PAINTINGS and PRINTS
Andy has specialized in watercolors. He uses transparent watercolors, painted in a series of washes to build color, creating shadows and a very strong use of light.
Not a private person, Andy enjoys having people watching him paint.
Self-published, Andy has invested in reproductions of his paintings. He has carefully chosen a printer that offers quality and color closest to his original. He continues to use four color offset printing.
SHOWS and the STUDIO
Andy participates in exhibits and shows along the Eastern Coast.
The Studio is located at 4 North Spruce Street, Lititz, PA 17543 and is open by chance or by appointment! Phone (717) 627-3383. Watercolor Classes are available at the studio throughout the year.
Andy's Annual Open House is held every November, the weekend before Thanksgiving.
Andy's website is updated weekly. It features current information about his show schedule, the class schedule, new original paintings and prints.
"A Painting A Day Blog" was started in January 2007. This is an exciting adventure where Andy is painting a miniature original watercolor every day. The new masterpiece is placed on his blog for you to view, along with a description of his thoughts. www.andysmithartist.blogspot.com
